Today, Google’s doodle paid homage to Mies van der Rohe’s 126th birthday. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a German-born American architect, is known for works such as the Farnsworth House and the Seagram Building, both encompassing a strikingly simple use of glass and steel. Mies was a strong believer in clearly expressing the structure of a building with simple parts, and ultimately starting the “less is more” modernist trend. A “no frills” approach to architecture – How refreshing!
Happy Birthday Mies!
